Myspace Induced Stress

Myspace has become the worlds largest drama empire ever known to man, OK maybe not the largest--Facebook may be the runner up. Inner circles of friends, then friends of friends, co-workers, and family who like to stalk each other and dish the juicy gossip. Who said what to whom? Who got who fired? Who is dating my best friend's cousin's girlfriend's best friend? It is a vicious cycle of drama on drama, until someone reaches a prize--the most comments by the end of the year. Bulletin surveys add to the dilemma with questions, like "how many hits did you get in the past month?" Then, your girl friends start competing for the most views by changing their pics to lewd boob shots and tongues dancing across their lips (for the more modest). For the guys, yes guys are victim to wannabe the most viewed, they work out for a couple of months, post their best pic as their profile picture, then keep that pic posted for the remainder of their myspace subscription, with hopes to lure in enough jealous females to get their number of views up. Who wouldn't want to know who that hunky guy is on so and so's top list?

Myspace has added to the stress that is already life, for so many people. They have lost contact with the personable and social network outside of the computer. Yes, Myspace and Facebook may be a great way to meet new people, especially if you are a bit shy, like myself. However, too often do many get lost in the wires that are the interwebs and in the confusion they may lose themselves, if not a few friends first. Be careful what you wish for. Those thoughts that were once only known to be private in one's head are now open to the public, if you own a profile of any kind.

As for myself, I have deleted Myspace for the fourth time, or so. I keep my friends phone numbers handy and actually have more fun talking to them in person, instead of awaiting a message. With unlimited cell phone plans available at a reasonable price nowadays, there are no problems sending pics, texts, or just talking for hours with friends and family. If I get the itch to produce another profile at Myspace or Facebook, I will remind myself that I was happier and less stressed without one. To each, his or her own.

Performances by MC MAGIC from NB RIDAZ, SOPHIA MARIA, AND LA LA hit the stage along with Terminal for an unforgettable show.
